Cardamom Paneer May 7, 2011

This dish of fried paneer was a side dish as part of main course in the Cardamom dinner.

  • 400gm paneer
  • Ground cardamom
  • 6 brown cardamom pods, slightly crushed
  • Smoked paprika
  • Ground ginger
  • ½-1 cup thick yoghurt (Greek style is best)

  1. Dice paneer. Mix spices (I didn’t measure, just added to taste), paneer and yogurt and marinate overnight.
  2. Fry for approx 10-15 mins until paneer is cooked through. Drain off excess yoghurt and serve with salads (below) and roti bread.

This was an odd dish and whilst the flavours were nice, I felt that the texture was all wrong. I think if you used less yoghurt and added frozen spinach and/or a can of diced tomatoes, it would make for a nicer dish.
