On Monday 7th May, Franca hosted the Nightshades dinner and served up dishes together with Laura.

Entre

Franca began the meal with roast chilli and bacon crumb.

Mains

   

Main course included an incredible moussaka and some other dishes I unfortunately can’t remember.

Dessert

 

Laura finished the meal with two desserts: a chilli chocolate mousse and a creme cheese cupcake.

Yet again we had a theme that we were surprised hadn’t been done yet, and this time it was Rice. Laura hosted and provided up with the savoury dishes, with Franca joining her to provide us with the sweet ones.

Drink

Laura (assisted by her daughter) started the evening with a strawberry and sake cocktail.

Entre

 

Laura started the meal proper with two entres: Vietnamese rice paper rolls with crispy tofu, and Thai chicken and black rice soup.

Main

For main course, Laura gave us chorizo and spinach paella.

Dessert

  

To finish, Franca served us a chocolate and peanut butter ricebubble slice, a pandan sticky rice slice and a rice pudding with poached pear.

The evening of Monday 13th November 2017 was the night of the dinner themed for fruits beginning with the letter ‘P’. Franca hosted and cooked dishes along with Laura.

On Monday 14th August, Jacinta hosted a dinner themed around the humble Orange, cooking dishes together with Franca.

To begin, Jacinta served us orange arancini balls.

For Monday 1st May, the theme was Quince. Franca hosted the dinner, and cooked the dishes together with Jacinta.

Entré

 

The meal began with quince toast topped with prosciutto and cheese-stuffed quince-glazed prunes.

Main

 

The main course was Persian lamb shanks with a polenta and pomegranate salad.

Dessert

 

To conclude the dinner, we had goats cheese tarts with quince paste and a quince and almond cake.

For Monday 13th February, the theme was Pandan. Franca hosted the dinner, and cooked the dishes together with Jacinta.

Jacinta made amazing grilled corn with salty coconut cream.

Jacinta cooked a deliciously moist pandan-brined roast chicken with asian coleslaw.

For Monday 3rd October, Laura and Franca took a different approach to the dinner, asking the rest of the recipe club what were their “all time favourite” entrees, mains, desserts and party drinks. Each dish was inspired by the favourite of a different person.

On Monday 4th July, Franca and Laura served us up a delicious dinner based around Tofu as the hero ingredient. Franca hosted and served up the savoury dishes, while Laura provided us with the sweet ones.

Franca then served us two savoury dishes for main course: bean-curd wraps and an eggplant and firm tofu stirfry.

Laura concluded the meal with two sweet dishes: chocolate and tofu cheesecake with maple and coconut (dairy-free) icecream, and tofu, choc-chip and pecan cookies.

On Monday 7th March, Pam hosted the dinner with the theme of Rolled food, and made many many dishes along with Franca.

The many tasty morsels included BBQ pork rice noodle rolls (Franca), stuffed bean curd sheet rolls (Pam), vegetable Manchurian (Pam), cheese-stuffed chicken rolled in prosciutto (Franca), and korokke (Pam).

To finish, Franca served peanut-stuffed glutinous rice dumplings in ginger broth, and Pam served chocolate roulade.

On Monday 14th December, we had our traditional Christmas-themed get together. Unlike previous years, where we solely made Christmas sweets and nibblies, this was a full Christmas dinner. Franca hosted, and cooked together with Pam.

To help get us into the Christmas spirit(s), Pam served some appropriate drinks: a festive punch and Christmas pudding vodka. A little while after, we then begun the meal proper with Franca’s watermelon and fetta salad (note how the melon is in the shape of stars).

The main course was a joint affair. Pam made a delicious roast pork belly, and Franca made us garlic bread, roast lamb and a mulled wine gravy.

To conclude, Franca served up a pumpkin-spice cheese cake, and Pam presented us with a passionfruit, lychee and coconut yule log.
